History & Information
Set in deepest Warwickshire between the ancient towns of Warwick, Leamington Spa and Coventry, Stoneleigh Deer Park is, as its name implies, an old deer park with the beautiful River Avon running through its centre. This represents a significant golfing hazard on the 7th, 8th, 10th and 18th holes.
The Old Deer Park is a most exciting and picturesque historic landscape set in 225 acres, and the golf course within this site respects the land form and parkland nature of its setting. The creation of the course has incorporated the concept of minimal disturbance to the land form and the use of the trees and the River Avon as the major obstacles on the course whilst maintaining the sensitivity of recreating the parkland.
The course measures 6056 yards in length with a par of 71 and offers a varied landscape to challenge the best golfers with its many ancient oak and sweet chestnut trees, some reputed to be 300 years old. The greens provide the finest possible putting surface, helped by an automatic irrigation system. The most challenging par 3 on the course is the 6th which measures 235 yards with a green surrounded by 5 bunkers. A solid shot is needed off the tee to walk off with a par, but a bogey is certainly a good score.
There is also an interesting 9 hole par 3 course measuring 1251 yards which is set in the centre of the course to challenge those players wishing to hone their short iron play. This also suits the less experienced player and is the ideal place for those who wish to learn. It has character and charm so you can enjoy a pleasant round if you only have a limited amount of time available.
Following your round of golf, you can make yourself at home in the “19th”. The clubhouse provides a wide variety of meals from bar snacks to an A La Carte menu. Our fully stocked bar is open 7 days per week and clubhouse activities vary from skittles nights, to quizzes to race nights to barbecues and any type of evening can be arranged to suit your own private party, if required.
Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club is an ideal location for all members of the family. Golfers of all categories are encouraged and with our very busy competition fixture list, you will not be disappointed with the amount of fun filled competitions that we run at Stoneleigh. Our Men’s, Ladies’, Seniors’ and Junior sections are very well run and have all the answers to your queries. If you are not interested in the competitions, getting a game is not at all difficult – you are sure to get a round in if you turn up.
Our policy is to provide a relaxed happy atmosphere where anyone can enjoy the many social activities which take place. Smart/casual dress is required at all times and you are reminded that Jeans, T-Shirts, Trainers and Track Suits are not allowed.
